Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT)

If your cat shows signs of dental disease, we may recommend a COHAT — a detailed oral health assessment performed under general anaesthetic. Because much of feline dental disease lies below the gum line, this procedure allows us to fully evaluate your cat’s mouth using x-rays and probing, and provide accurate treatment.

What’s Involved in a COHAT?

Anaesthesia

Your cat’s safety is our priority. We follow strict protocols to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.

Periodontal Probing & Charting

Each tooth is examined for signs of gum disease using a dental probe. We chart all findings to plan the best course of treatment.

Dental X-rays

X-rays reveal hidden issues under the gum line, such as root infections or bone loss.

Scaling & Polishing

Tartar is removed using ultrasonic and hand scaling, followed by polishing and an antiseptic rinse.

Treatment Planning

If extractions or further treatment are needed, we’ll contact you during the procedure to discuss options and costs.

Please note that a £700 deposit is required to book a COHAT. For cancellations or rescheduling with less than 48 hours’ notice, up to 50% of the deposit may be retained.
